National Pie Day, No, not 3.14159265 Pie—just the kind you eat. This day is dedicated to the appreciation of all things pie, and what better way to celebrate than by baking some delicious gluten-free pies for yourself and your loved ones? Finding the right pie recipe can be overwhelming, we know. So, we’ve compiled a list of gluten-free pie recipes that you can try out on this special day.

 

Apple Pie

First up, we have the classic apple pie—delicious, gluten-free apple pie that’s perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients:

  1. 6 cups thinly sliced apples

  2. 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  3. 2 tablespoons gluten-free flour

  4. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  5. 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  6. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  7. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

  8. 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  9. 1 recipe gluten-free pie crust (either homemade or store-bought)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the sliced apples, sugar, gluten-free flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until the apples are coated.

  3. Add the butter and lemon juice to the apple mixture and stir well.

  4. Roll out your gluten-free pie crust and place it into a 9-inch pie dish.

  5. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, making sure it’s evenly distributed.

  6. Place the pie in the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Chocolate Cream Pie

For those who love chocolate, try out the gluten-free chocolate cream pie.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 pre-made gluten-free pie crust

  2. 1 1/2 cups of sugar

  3. 1/2 cup of cornstarch

  4. 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  5. 4 cups of milk

  6. 8 egg yolks

  7. 8 oz. of gluten-free semi-sweet chocolate chips

  8. 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

  9. whipped cream for topping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.

  2. In a saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt.

  3. Add the milk and egg yolks to the saucepan and whisk until fully combined.

  4. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and boils.

  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chocolate chips and vanilla extract. Stir until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth.

  6. Pour the mixture into the pre-made gluten-free pie crust.

  7. Bake the pie for 10-12 minutes or until the pie crust is golden brown.

  8. Let the pie cool to room temperature, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

  9. Once the pie is chilled, top it with whipped cream and serve.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice until well combined.

  3. Pour the mixture into the gluten-free pie crust, and dot with butter.

  4. Roll out the remaining pie crust dough and cut it into strips. Use the strips to create a lattice pattern over the top of the blueberry filling.

  5. Brush the beaten egg over the top of the pie crust.

  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

  7. Allow the pie to cool to room temperature before slicing and serving.

 

Pumpkin Pie

Finally, we have a traditional gluten-free pumpkin pie. Here’s what you’ll need:

For the crust:

  1. 1 1/2 cups of almond flour

  2. 1/2 cup of tapioca flour

  3. 2 tablespoons of coconut sugar

  4. 1/4 teaspoon of salt

  5. 1/4 cup of coconut oil, melted

  6. 1 egg

For the filling:

  1. 1 can of pumpkin puree (15 ounces)

  2. 1/2 cup of coconut sugar

  3. 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

  4. 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger

  5. 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg

  6. 1/4 teaspoon of salt

  7. 2 eggs

  8. 1/2 cup of almond milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, tapioca flour, coconut sugar, and salt for the crust.

  3. Whisk in the melted coconut oil and egg until the mixture forms a dough.

  4. Press the dough into a 9-inch pie dish, making sure to cover the bottom and sides evenly.

  5. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, coconut sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt for the filling.

  6. Whisk in the eggs and almond milk until the mixture is smooth.

  7. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.

  8. Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.

  9. Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
