The Journey of the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG)
Since its founding in 1974 by Dr. Elaine Hartsook, the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) has grown from a single support network into a global leader in gluten-free safety, certification, and community support. Making life easier for everyone living gluten-free has always been our focus. Key milestones include pioneering the first gluten-free dietary guidelines, launching the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), and establishing the GIG Cares program, which now provides food security to thousands in need. This year, GIG celebrates 50 years of making life easier for everyone living gluten-free.
