Gluten-Free Hot Apple Cider

Serves: 6–8

Ingredients:

  • 1 gallon apple cider (100% juice, no added gluten-containing flavorings)
  • 1 medium orange, sliced (leave peel on for extra flavor)
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves (or ½ tsp ground)
  • 1 tablespoon whole allspice (or ½ tsp ground)
  • 1–2 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • A dash of nutmeg (optional, for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Pour the apple cider into a large pot or crockpot.
  2. Add orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice.
  3. Heat on low for 30–40 minutes (or 2–3 hours in a crockpot).
  4. Sweeten if desired.
  5. Strain out spices and orange slices.
  6. Ladle into mugs, sprinkle with nutmeg, and serve warm.

 

Optional cozy twist: Add a cinnamon stick stirrer, or for adults, a splash of bourbon or rum pairs beautifully.
