My name is Erin Smith and I was diagnosed with celiac disease way back in 1981 so I have a unique perspective of growing up in the gluten-free community. I started my blog Gluten-Free Fun in 2007 to share my life-long experiences of living with celiac disease. In 2011, I took my passion for travel and launched Gluten-Free Globetrotter. Since I was diagnosed with celiac disease at such an early age, all of my travels have always been 100% gluten-free. I really want to encourage others with celiac disease to live their lives to the fullest and never let being gluten-free stop them from seeing the world. In addition to living with celiac my entire life, I also have a sister with celiac disease that was diagnosed as an adult. We have really made living and eating gluten-free a family affair. Our holiday dinners are always 100% gluten-free and we love exploring gluten-free friendly restaurants and bakeries when we are together. In addition to blogging, I have also been running celiac support groups since 2005. I feel that finding an in-person community is such a positive way to connect with others. Plus, you get to share gluten-free food. It’s a win-win! I really cannot imagine my life without celiac disease. It has really shaped me to be the celiac advocate I am today.
