Position Summary:

The Social Media Associate is responsible for working in conjunction with the Communications Manager to establish the tone and provide the overall “voice” of the organization to the Gluten-Free (GF) community through all of GIG’s social media platforms, websites, blogs, RSS feeds, etc.  The Social Media Associate will be proactive in researching and determining the relevant topics the GF community should be informed regarding as they visit our various platforms.  The Social Media Associate will also cooperate with GIG team members throughout the organization on various projects and initiatives, lending their communication expertise on all things related to advancing the mission of GIG.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Social Media Strategy & Content

Oversee all of GIG’s current social media accounts (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn) for consumer and B2B accounts, expanding the reach and engagement of the GF lifestyle. Create and maintain the GIG social media calendar for short and long-term efforts to ensure the clarity of the GIG message, ensuring the content for social channels are aligned with the broader marketing calendar and organizational goals. Develop relationships with social influencers and participate in relevant online events. Leverage social media analytics to optimize GIG campaigns, and provide clear recommendations on how to further grow engagement and increase leads via social media. Maintain a cutting-edge awareness of social media trends, making continual suggestions for improvement. Develop, manage and measure social media campaigns (Twitter chats, promoted posts/tweets, etc.). Ongoing collaboration with Communications Manager to develop content distribution strategies. Assist in generating compelling content topics based on current trends.

Content Management

Collaborate with Communications Manager & Marketing Manager to develop quarterly content plans. Create content to be utilized on organization’s blog and other social media channels. Manage content across all social channels to drive brand awareness, website traffic and conversions. Develop video content for social channels and website. Maintenance of website blog, RSS feeds, and additional content updates as necessary. Conduct social listening on GIG and its related programs and services. Responsible for 5-10 hours per week of website content editing & ongoing revisions. Maintain physical and electronic communication files. Provides outstanding Customer service (answering phones, responding to messages and comments, answering general questions, etc.).   Moderate Facebook groups.

Position Qualifications:

  • Proven success managing social media and digital marketing programs and strong understanding of social media channels and digital content marketing.
  • Experience managing a blog and website (WordPress experience helpful).
  • Experience with and understanding of AP style writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and presentational communication skills.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to turn metrics into recommended actions.
  • Ability to work successfully across levels and throughout the organization.
  • Understanding of SEO and its relationship with social media.
  • Knack for working effectively while being self-motivated, managing multiple priorities at once.
  • Ability to produce content occasionally outside of traditional business hours, dependent upon topic trending and industry demand.
  • Knowledge of celiac disease and gluten-free diets preferred but not required.
  • Experience handling B2B and B2C social media accounts and communications

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in social media marketing.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or Communications preferred.

 

Skills Required

Language Ability:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret most documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.

Math Ability:  Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as algebra, timing, distances. Ability to apply these concepts to practical situations in position.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, database use, and Salesforce.

  • Location: Office-based, Corp. Auburn or Olympia, WA office; Remote location possibility.
