Grilling Vegetables
A quick marinade, or a little seasoning, is all you need for the flavor of your fresh summer produce to shine through. Grilling is a great way to incorporate these nutritious, colorful, and naturally gluten-free foods that we all need more of in our diets.
Many vegetables have a shape that works well on the grill such as asparagus spears, sliced eggplant or zucchini, and corn on the cob. Use a grill basket to open even more cooking options by making it easy to add smaller items like diced onion, tomato, and mushrooms. Think of your grill basket as an outdoor sauté pan.
Another option is putting veggies on a skewer: a fun way to get kids involved in cooking, too. Prep a bowl of bite-sized slices of red, green, and yellow pepper, cubes of zucchini, and small, whole mushrooms. Let the kids stack them up on the skewers in whatever order they’d like.

Grilling Fruit
Grilling fruit can be a tasty and healthy way to complement your meal or add zing as a surprising condiment. The sugars in fruits caramelize nicely on a grill, resulting in intense, sweet flavors. Try pears, pineapples, peaches, or bananas. Start with firm fruits that hold up during grilling.
For bananas, cut them lengthwise while they are still in the peel, then grill fruit-side down. If you want to get fancy, use the banana as a base and top it off with a little chocolate sauce and/or ice cream.
